歴史的背景

紅海は何千年もの間、重要な交易路でした。古代エジプト人はこの海岸からプント国への遠征を行いました。ハトシェプスト女王の有名な交易航海は紀元前1470年頃に紅海から出発しました。紅海はアジア、アフリカ、ヨーロッパ間の香辛料貿易における重要な結節点でした。近代では、1869年のスエズ運河の開通により、紅海は世界で最も重要な航路のひとつとなりました。観光開発は、ハルガダがまだ小さな漁村だった1980年代に始まり、今日では紅海リビエラは世界トップクラスのダイビングスポットとなっています。

紅海には1,200種以上の魚と250種以上のサンゴが生息しています。トップダイブサイトには、SSシスルゴーム号（第二次世界大戦の沈没船）、エルフィンストーン・リーフ（ヨゴレザメで有名）、ブラザーズ諸島などがあります。多くのリゾートのビーチから直接シュノーケリングを楽しめ、特にマフミヤ島やギフトゥン島周辺は素晴らしいスポットです。

ボートトリップ＆アイランドホッピング

紅海沿岸は乾燥した晴天の気候のおかげで、年間を通じて楽しめる旅先です。水温は冬の22°Cから夏の28°Cの範囲です。ダイビングに最適な条件は3月〜5月と9月〜11月で、透明度が抜群で潮流も穏やかです。夏（6月〜8月）は水温が最も高くなりますが、陸上は非常に暑くなります（40°C以上）。冬（12月〜2月）はビーチリラクゼーションに快適（25〜28°C）ですが、夕方は涼しくなることがあります。

交通手段

ほとんどの訪問者はオールインクルーシブリゾートに滞在し、ホテルの送迎を利用します。ハルガダのメインストリップ（シガラとニューマリーナ）にはタクシーとミクロバスがあります。エル・グーナには独自のトゥクトゥクシステムとマリーナ間ボートがあります。ダイビングについては、ほとんどのダイブセンターがホテルへの送迎を手配します。レンタカーも可能ですが、リゾートでの休暇には通常不要です。
